Be a damsel once. A small, fine castle hotel right on the Romantic Road in the best preserved castle in Southern Germany - the Harburg. Even Michael Jackson had fallen in love with this castle, which was tended by the princely Oettingen-Wallerstein, and tried to buy it at the end of the 90s. Your Highness Prince Moritz zu Oettingen-Wallerstein, however, has chosen another way to secure this unique castle complex for the public. The valuable documents of the library and the entire property have been handed over to the Harburg Cultural Foundation. Every day, every hour on the hour, you can take a trip to the Middle Ages with a guide and get to know the dungeon, castle walls, breathtaking views and proverbial knightly customs. The Princely Burgschenke, the dining restaurant on the square and the small but fine castle hotel invite you to linger. Our unique tower room offers not only a comfortable place to stay, but also the experience of having slept in a real medieval castle. The Middle Ages does not mean having to do without comfort. Each room has a small bathroom with shower and toilet, a TV, modern mattresses with comfortable linen, free Wi-Fi access and a princely breakfast.
Our castle is ideally suited. It offers space for every occasion. From 20 seats in the fireplace room to 50 seats in the castle tavern, up to 120 seats in the box room or for the very large and elegant celebrations in the ballroom with up to 300 seats. Parking is available at the foot of the castle in abundance or directly in the courtyard of the castle complex. There is no curfew and no neighbors who might feel disturbed by your event. You can also invite your loved ones to the castle hotel and enjoy the party carefree. Pets are not a problem and for allergy sufferers, our chef is happy to cook the dishes as desired.
We are happy to serve regional cuisine such as roast pork, cheese spätzle, Schnitzel and Co, specialties for sophisticated tastes such as venison, fish, fillet, seasonal items such as pumpkin, asparagus or mushroom dishes and of course historical cuisine with real mead, knight spit and castle plate.
At our Prosecco bar you can tap your Prosecco yourself (Prosecco from the barrel) or we will gladly prepare our wine barrels, where your guests may order a glass or two.
